What You Get

The panel decides what the house can do.

Almost every big electrical project runs into the panel eventually. A hot tub, a charger, air conditioning, a basement suite, they all draw from the same place. We size the upgrade around what you are planning, not just what is failing today, so you are not paying to open the same panel twice.

  • Fuse panel replacement with a modern breaker panel
  • Service upgrades sized for current and planned loads
  • Circuit breaker replacement and added circuits
  • Whole home surge protection installed at the panel
  • Shock prevention devices and tamper proof outlets
  • Permit pulled, inspection handled, panel labelled when done

FAQ

Panel upgrade questions

The usual signs are breakers that trip repeatedly, lights that dim when a large appliance starts, a panel with fuses instead of breakers, or no space left for another circuit. Adding a hot tub, an EV charger, air conditioning or a basement suite also pushes most older panels past what they were sized for.

A fuse panel protects each circuit with a fuse that burns out and has to be replaced. A breaker panel uses breakers that trip and reset. Modern panels also carry far more capacity and allow protective devices that a fuse panel cannot, which is why insurers ask about fuse panels on older homes.

Most residential panel changes are a one day job, and yes, the power is off for a part of it while the panel is swapped and the circuits are moved over. We schedule the shutoff with you in advance so nothing catches you by surprise.

Yes. Whole home surge protection installs at the panel and protects everything downstream of it. Shock prevention devices, including the protection now required on many circuits, are added as part of the upgrade rather than sold as an extra afterward.
