Buying a home, renewing insurance, or just uneasy about something you have noticed. Springbank Electrical carries out electrical safety and insurance inspections across Calgary and the surrounding communities, and explains what is found in plain language.
An inspection is worth very little if the report is unreadable. We check the system properly, then tell you what is urgent, what is worth planning for, and what is simply old but fine. If something needs doing you get a clear scope, and if nothing does, you get told that too.
Panel, circuits, devices, visible wiring and anything you have flagged, checked room by room.
Circuits tested rather than assumed, including grounding and the protective devices already installed.
A plain explanation of what is urgent, what can wait and what is simply older but safe.
If work is needed you get a clear quote, and it can be done by the same person who found it.
The panel and its capacity, the condition of breakers or fuses, grounding and bonding, visible wiring, outlets and switches, and the protective devices on circuits that now require them. Anything you have specifically noticed gets checked as well.
It is not mandatory, but a general home inspection is not an electrical inspection and often flags electrical items without diagnosing them. If a home is older, has a fuse panel, or the report mentions knob-and-tube or aluminum, an electrical inspection tells you what you are actually buying.
Insurers sometimes require documented confirmation of the wiring in a home, particularly around aluminum wiring or knob-and-tube, before they will write or renew a policy. We inspect and provide documentation of the condition and any work completed.
They are protective devices that cut power when they detect a fault that could shock someone, and current code requires them on many circuits, particularly around water and in bedrooms. Older homes frequently have none, and adding them is one of the least expensive safety improvements available.
Tell us the age of the home, whether this is for a purchase or an insurer, and anything specific you have noticed. We will come back with a clear quote.
